Siri Shortcuts

Control Poreia with your voice using Siri, or build automations with the Shortcuts app.

Voice Commands

Say "Hey Siri" followed by any of these commands:

CommandWhat It Does
"Start tracking in Poreia" Begins a new track
"Pause tracking in Poreia" Pauses the current track
"Resume tracking in Poreia" Resumes a paused track
"Finish track in Poreia" Saves the track with an auto-generated name
"Drop a pin in Poreia" Drops a waypoint at your current location
"Drop a named pin in Poreia" Siri asks for a name, then drops the pin

First-Time Setup

The first time you use a Siri command for Poreia, iOS will prompt you to "Turn On" Siri Shortcuts for the app. After enabling, all shortcuts work automatically.

Shortcuts App Actions

These additional actions are available in the Shortcuts app for building automations:

ActionReturns
Finish Track with Name Saves the track with a custom name you specify
Get Tracking Status "not tracking", "tracking", or "paused"
Get Track Distance Current track distance in meters
Get Track Duration Current track duration in seconds

Custom Phrases

Create shortcuts with custom phrases for quicker access:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app
  2. Tap + to create a new shortcut
  3. Add the Poreia action you want (e.g., "Start Tracking in Poreia")
  4. Tap the shortcut name and choose Rename
  5. Give it a short name like "Start my hike"

Now you can say "Hey Siri, start my hike" instead of the full phrase.

Siri Responses

Siri speaks helpful responses for each action:

Automation Limitations

Important: iOS restricts third-party apps from launching via background automations (Bluetooth connect, location arrival, NFC tags, etc.). Voice commands and manual shortcut triggers work, but fully automated "start tracking when I connect to car Bluetooth" will not—the automation will require you to tap "Run" to confirm.

This is a platform limitation, not a Poreia limitation.

Example Automations

While fully automated triggers aren't possible, you can still create useful shortcuts:
